Outside Catering On holiday in Shropshire

Simon Smith set up Shropshire Chef, at Round Oak Farm. Originally he catered for holiday homes, and offered private cheffing to the lucky folk of Shropshire from the farmhouse kitchen.

Word spread and the business became so successful, that he was awarded a Rural Enterprise Grant to open a Cooking School and private dining venue in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Catherine Pybus, his partner comes from a Shropshire food dynasty.

As a culinary historian, her mother Meg “unearthed” the Shropshire Gingerbread, and put the Shropshire Prune (the damson), on the food map.
Keith Pybus meanwhile uncovered the only lesson the English have ever taught the French about food: the story of Clive of India's little pies (Les Petits Pates de Pezanas)
Simon brought Keith and Meg's work to life in North Shropshire with events like the Damson Feast and the Clive of India Banquet at Goldstone Hall. Today you will see their research has influenced menus and specialist food retailers throughout the county.
